OPERATING TIPS
The tones generated by the dialer are accurate and strong enough to
activate most equipment. However, older telephones that have microphones
with poor sensitivity might not receive the tones properly. As a result,
the equipment might not operate, or might operate incorrectly. In some
cases, doing the following can help improve operation with older
telephones.
Hold the telephone's handset vertically and be sure the phone dialer's
rubber ring is directly over the handset's mouthpiece.
If you still have problems, lightly tap the handset of the telephone
several times on a hard surface. These taps loosen the carbon particles
in the handset's microphone, which should make the microphone
perform better.

CE/C twice to clear any old calculations from the EC-389.
If you enter an incorrect number or function key (+, -, x, etc.), press

becomes the constant.
